Following a reckless encounter with her mother's boyfriend, sixteen-year-old Heidi (Abbie Cornish) flees her home for the small Australian ski town of Jindabyne. There she falls for Joe (Sam Worthington), an emotionally conflicted son of a wealthy local farmer, but her self-destructive tendencies soon reemerge, threatening both their relationship and her fragile stability.
