At Home with the Braithwaites

It's Alison Braithwaite's 40th birthday and she receives a gift that will change her life forever: her youngest daughter, Charlotte, buys her a lottery ticket in which she wins the jackpot of £38 million. Overwhelmed at the prospect of being a multimillionaire, Alison decides to withhold the truth from her family for the time being and attempts to put the money to good use by setting up a charity.

Alison Braithwaite's charity is up and running and they are overwhelmed by begging letters. Alison decides she's got to tell her family.

David has agreed to spend the night with Elaine but is now in a state of anxiety. Sarah gives her drama teacher a poem revealing her feelings for him...then discovers he has a girlfriend.

Virginia now works for Alison's charity. When David tells Alison that he hates his job, she suggests he could get a job at the trust. David decides to end his affair.

David gets a job at the Jane Crowther Trust and feels on top of the world, until he goes to the local garage and discovers Sarah working as the cashier. She tells him she's left school and she knows he's having an affair.
